Juvenile Round Up 11th June
Plunketts U7's took their first steps into Blitz action on Sunday
The Club kindly got an invite to play in the Callum Farrell memorial tournament for U7 Boys and Girls hosted by Castleknock GAA club. Calum Farrell, RIP passed away suddenly last March. With the support of Calum’s parents, the GAA and the wider local community, Castleknock Hurling and Football Club, 2012 boy’s mentors hosted a fun charity football blitz in aid of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and Temple Street Children’s University Hospital.
With a marching band, a magician, a BBQ and fun games on top of four GO Games there was great fun had by all. A 35 strong Plunketts squad descended on Somerton in what was the first matches for some of our players. Our five teams all aquitted themselves really well and were very strong and competitive throughout.
Despite some great weather followed by a mini downpour the Kids all appeared to return home very happy with their Goody Bag and medal. Thanks to all who helped make the day possible, to all our Mentors who all rowed in, Padraig Phelan & Niamh Gavin, Brian Williams & Dermot O'Kane, Sinead O'Riordain & Sarah Lacey, Daragh Carolan & Eamon Kelly, Brian Kiernan, Ross Leahy and Ian Wigglesworth and especially to Ciarán O'Neill who came out of management retirement especially to help.
Thanks also to our ticket sellers on the day Lorna Leatham and Emma Little. Finally special thanks to the two former Plunketts players now U7 Castleknock mentors Mark Waters and Thomas McDonagh for inviting the club.
Following the Plunketts boys mini leagues this week, next Saturday 15th June all roads lead to Broombridge for 11am, where both our U7 Girls and Boys play in the TU Dublin Broombridge Nursery Blitz. The blitz also features Naomh Fionbarra, St Brendans, Erins Isle and Good Counsel and a series of Community fun activities hosted by TU Dublin Broombridge.
Our U11s had a busy weekend starting with a successful visit to Na Fianna where all 3 teams had hard fought wins. On Sunday we welcomed Navan O'Mahonys for a football challenge where Navan came out on top in a number of close games.
Our U12B team had thrilling draw with Saint Anne’s in div 9 hurling on Saturday, with 3 scores in the last five minutes of the match to draw the game.
