Darkenss into Light #DIL2018 - thank you!
Sat, 12 May 2018
A big thank you to all the Plunketts members and people from the local community who took part in the Darkness into Light event #DIL2018 in the Phoenix Park earlier this Saturday morning. As a result of our involvement this year, we have raised over €2,500 for Pieta House. This is our fourth year supporting this event.

The morning itself was beautiful and calm, and it was uplifting to be part of such an event at day break. Afterwards, all sections of the club membership were present in the Clubhouse for breakfast.  It was a real community event. Thank you for supporting the event.

Special thanks to the following businesses:
- Seamus Etherson, Ethersons Butchers Cabra  for supplying sausages and bacon;
- John Cantwell and all the local staff in Mace, Kinvara Park for pastries, bread, milk juice and more bacon; and
- Kevin Odgers in the newly opened The Planted Bean on Baggot road for the delicious cinnamon rolls;

I would ask you to support these businesses by choosing to #ShopLocal

Thanks too to Mary McManus, Deirdre McDonaldLynda Egan, Thomas & Niamh Lundon, Trish Maher and Martina Carroll for baking items for the breakfast. Thanks also to Keelings in Smithfield Market for subsidising the cost of our fruit.

Special mention to Joan Voakes who prepared the Clubhouse the night before and cooking breakfast items.

Thanks too to the U/11 mentors - David McGeown, Jimmy Collins, Derek Hughes, Keith Merton, & Conor McCague and Trish Maher, our Healthy Club Officer for their cooking skills and for the smooth running of the event on Saturday morning.

Keep an eye out for more Health & Wellbeing team initiatives to promote a positive mental health message within the Club and in the wider Community. We would like to draw your attention to the Pieta House - Know the Signs Campaign

See you all again next year

Ronan

So far we have had a tremendous response for the Darkness Into Light event in the Phoenix Park supporting the good work of Pieta House with well over 140 people registering with the club and raising over €2,200 for them.

Here a few final pointers:

Event logistics
The event starts at 4:15am on Saturday, 12th of May.  If people from the club wish to meet up beforehand, we will meet at 3:45am at the Phoenix Park Monument roundabout (near the entrance to the Aras).

Afterwards we will return to the Clubhouse for a light breakfast. All club members and non-members from the community are welcome to attend whether you have registered with us or not. This is a great way to share our experiences of the event.

You can help us !!
If you can sponsor some breakfast foods, drinks or fruit, please contact Ronan Doohan (087-8593540).

Hope to see you all there

As a result, we will need to capture some details - name, DOB, address and t-shirt size preference.  We need to register this week to ensure delivery of the t-shirts.

The cost will €20 per adult and €5 per child (aged 6-17). Cash and debit card payments will be accepted.

Plunketts supporting Pieta House, Darkness into Light event in the Phoenix Park - will you join us?
Sat, 14 Apr 2018
Plunketts are supporting the Pieta House Darkness Into Light event on Saturday morning, the 12th of May.

Following on from our successful events over the last three years, Plunkett's are again supporting the Pieta House - Darkness Into Light Event in the Phoenix Park on Saturday morning - 12th of May.  We need your support for this great event.

Will you join us in the Phoenix Park to complete the event and then return to the Clubhouse for some breakfast afterwards.

This is another Healthy Club initiative.  As part of the Mind Ur Buddy programme, Plunkett's have been building close ties with Pieta House to promote a positive mental health message within the Club and the wider community. This is a great opportunity to have that conversation with your son, daughter, brother, sister, parent, relative, teammate or friend that you are there for them in times of need.  Why not, make the effort to walk with us.

What do I need to do to register?
We are working with Pieta House to organise a group registration event.  In addition, we may use a promotion code to avail of the 'Early Bird' registration cost.  We will finalise and announce the details in the middle of next week.

Pieta House have changed their registration process to ensure that t-shirts are distributed by a logistics company.  We would urge those intending to attend the event, to re-use their t-shirt from last year.

Cost of the Event
We will revert next week with the cost details for individuals, students / OAP's and families - costs will be in line with prior years.

Event Logistics
The plan is to meet as a group beforehand in front of the roundabout at the Phoenix Park Monument (near the Arás) at 3:45am and to return to the Clubhouse afterwards for a light breakfast.

We need publicity !!
We want you to tell your friends on social media "I'm doing the Darkness into Light walk with @Plunketts_ie, will you join me"? and share it with @plunketts_ie, #DIL2018

We also need some help !!
If you can help us organise the event or get / bake some breakfast foods, drinks, or fruit sponsored, please contact Ronan Doohan (087 8593540).
